LET’S HEAR YOUR STORY
What a great weekend to be a sports enthusiast especially if you’re in South Florida! There was so much going on it was hard to decide what to watch, when to watch it and who to focus on! We had The NBA Playoffs (Miami Heat), The Stanley Cup Playoffs (Florida Panthers), The Kentucky Derby as well as the usual smattering of MLB baseball from Tampa to Miami!
All this excitement aside, let’s talk briefly about football because it deserves some solid attention. The “Great Drama” involving both Arron Rogers and Lamar Jackson can finally be put to rest. Arron Rogers we all know has been a New York Jet now for over a week and appears live on TV almost every evening at some random New York sporting event. It’s gotten old, but seeing Rogers in Jets green might take a year or two to get used to. Lamar Jackson as we all know now has finally gotten paid and resigned a Baltimore Raven. Thank The Football Gods! Can we all get back to getting ready for the season now? I’m m hoping that neither of them have a season where they fall flat on their face but the amount of money they are getting should cushion any hard fall, hopefully. Karma can be brutal sometimes. It’s now time to perform. Both the Jets and The Ravens are looking to be lead by these two to The Super Bowl so we’ll see what happens. I got 20 bucks that says niether team gets there for at least two years, maybe three. In my opinion the next two or three years belong to The Bills, The 49ers and The Bengals. There, I said it!(Throw the Dolphins in there as well, just for hoots and giggles).
For the 149th time in the history of Horse Racing The Kentucky Derby did not disappoint. For myself however there was a real let down as I did not figure the winner Mage, number 8, into my selection equation. Once again I walked away without cashing a ticket at the derby in spite having a decent day overall with the other races. That house in Lake Tahoe will have to wait a bit longer I suppose. Until next year!
The Florida sports steam roller continues to rumble on. After dispatching the Boston Bruins The Florida Panthers are on track to do the same to The Toronto Maple Leafs. Over in the NBA, Jimmy Butler has the Miami Heat dominating an over hyped New York Knicks team that has shown lackluster play at best. As usual, a healthy Jimmy Butler is key to Miami’s success but at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up in the finals. As long as the team stays healthy I see Miami going deep.
Speaking of going deep, what in the heck is going on with The L.A. Lakers? It’s difficult at this point to decide if they actually want another championship or just enjoy getting buried by Golden State. It basically depends on which night you catch the game. It’s so back and forth! Either way the late night West Coast games are putting a serious damper on my sleeping patterns. I vote for the games to start three hours earlier! The Eastern playoffs have been pretty much back and forth with Boston and Philadelphia taking one and loosing one depending on which night of the week it is. I’m hoping that Miami finishes off New York quickly and the Boston-Philadelphia series goes the distance allowing for Miami to get a well deserved rest.
Once again the NFL has given us a show stopping drama filled moment with what is the annual release of the NFL schedule for the 2023 season. Once again I’m reminded that we all just causally read about this in the newspapers, however never give up on The NFL and main stream sports media empires to miss a money making opportunity. Frankly I don’t loose sleep over it, and yes like everyone else I’ll Probably watch it. I know the Dolphins will play the Jets, Bills, and Patriots a couple of times. I realize that there will be weekends that fans of the Great Northern Teams will take over the streets and bars of Fort Lauderdale and Miami and leave a big mess for the locals to clean up. The best part about all this is that they’re not only gonna leave with a hangover and empty pockets but also a huge “L” care of The Miami Dolphins!
As we get closer and closer to football season both professionally and at the college level I like to watch predictions that come across my news feed. Some of them are quite shocking and many are just laughable. I tend to stay away from Predictions as they can come back to haunt you but as we get closer and closer to the 2023 season I can say this; It’s gonna be HUGE! Play on!
